We honor student excellence
What is the student membership fee?
Newly elected students must pay a one-time membership fee of $95 to complete their enrollment in the national Phi Beta Kappa Society, becoming a member for life.
To request a fee waiver, email us at phibetakappa@ucdavis.edu
Our Phi Beta Kappa chapter is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. We hold an induction ceremony each spring to welcome new student members into our chapter, Kappa of California. We depend on dues and other contributions from alumni and PBK Members in Residence at UC Davis. These funds are used at UC Davis to cover students' membership fees and ceremony expenses. You may also direct your donation to student support, which enables us to offer fee waivers for some students each year.
How can my department pay the fee for our majors?
Departments may choose to honor their major students elected to Phi Beta Kappa by sponsoring their fees. We have an established process for that, described in this PDF. Our chapter pays the membership fee, then departments make a donation to the chapter in honor of their students.
