Join Phi Beta Kappa

One year free in PBKNCA

New members also receive a complimentary 1-year membership in the Northern California Association of Phi Beta Kappa, an alumni association with a newsletter, activities and a Young Phi Betes group. You are invited to join nearly 1000 other ΦBK alumni; find out the details at Information for New Initiates on the PBKNCA website.

Welcome to Phi Beta Kappa! Our chapter at UC Davis is called Kappa of California. In the wider world, membership in one of our organizations is understood as an honor that is neither cheaply won nor widely bestowed.

We send invitations to the email account of eligible juniors and seniors each spring. If you have been invited to join Phi Beta Kappa, please look at our enrollment tips and see How to register online for step-by-step instructions.

There is a one-time fee of $85 to register, after which you will remain a member of Phi Beta Kappa for life. We invite you to attend our induction ceremony in the spring. Each student who has been invited into Phi Beta Kappa and has joined the Society receives a certificate of membership and a ribbon insignia to wear at his or her commencement ceremony. The best way to get these tokens of membership is to attend the initiation ceremony, but if you cannot attend, alternative arrangements are possible.

The one-time registration fee covers the true cost of establishing your membership locally and in the national office in Washington, D.C. You remain a member of Phi Beta Kappa for life and receive The Key Reporter as long as you keep your address updated. Please read Information for Nominees to learn more about the advantages of membership in Phi Beta Kappa.
